Proposal to change the length of the school day

Proposal to change the length of the school day

Dear Families

Proposal to change the length of the school day.

I am writing to inform you of some proposed changes to the structure of the school day here at Eastgate Academy.

The government has stated that all children need to be in school for a minimum of 32.5 hours per week.  To enable us to achieve this we are proposing the following changes to the school day.

They are:

  • School gates will open at 8.15am
  • Breakfast will be served in the classroom
  • School day will start at 8.30am
  • All children will need to be in school by 8.30am
  • School for all year groups will finish at 3.00pm
  • All children to be collected at 3.00pm

We feel that these changes will cause the least amount of disruption to your child’s school day.  Hopefully this will also help with drop off and pick up for those of you who have children at Highgate Infant Academy as they are also looking to change their school day.  They are going to be starting at 8.45 am and finishing at 3.15pm.

I appreciate that these changes may affect you in terms of childcare or working arrangements and for this reason, I would like to invite you to give any feedback by sending your questions and responses to office@ega.eastern-mat.co.uk by Friday 16th December.

Yours faithfully,

Linda Hothersall

Principal
