Congratulations to our star of the week in Magpies, and those who have scored full marks on Tackling Tables and spelling tests.

This week, the Magpies have continued their sentence stacking in literacy on The Paperman. We have been exploring different adverbial openers to describe Malcolm's reaction to seeing the girl he met at the train station. We have also had a focus on similes and repetition used for exaggeration in writing.

In Maths, we have started our unit on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We have looked at addition, subtraction and common factors so far.

This week in history we have moved from looking at life on the Western front and instead have been exploring what life was like on the home front. In particular, considering the changes to the lives of women.

We have built onto our clay relief tiles this week. Children have thoroughly enjoyed this and have produced some amazing tiles. They have really grasped the idea of linear perspective and having areas of high and low relief.

The magpies were looking at online reputation this week in computing. They wrote pieces of advice for different influencers on how to improve their online presence.

Following on from last week, the children completed their fair tests and got a range of conclusions from their investigations into the effects of exercise on pulse rate.

Finally, in Spanish, we started our unit on 'Do you have any pets?' Children really engaged with this and started conversations asking each other about pets in Spanish.

Spelling tests will continue to be on a Monday with spellings for the following week sent out on the same day. Our PE day is Wednesday for swimming. Please encourage children to read as much as possible throughout the week.

Best wishes,

Miss Roche, Miss Garrod and Mrs Satkauskiene.
