Throughout the first weeks of the autumn term, the children have been taking part in a number of lessons that will help improve that ability to play the sport. 

🏀 Fundamental Basketball Skills

  • Dribbling – controlling the ball while moving.
  • Passing – chest pass, bounce pass, overhead pass.
  • Shooting – layups, jump shots, free throws.
  • Defensive skills – positioning, blocking, stealing.
  • Footwork – pivoting, shuffling, and quick directional changes.

💪 Physical Development

  • Coordination – hand-eye and overall body coordination.
  • Agility – quick movements and changes in direction.
  • Strength and endurance – through running and jumping.
  • Balance – maintaining control during movement.

🧠 Mental and Social Skills

  • Teamwork – working together and communicating.
  • Strategy and decision-making – choosing when to pass, shoot, or defend.
  • Confidence and resilience – learning from mistakes and staying motivated.
  • Sportsmanship – respecting others and playing fair.

When the children combine a number of these skills, it enables to show their full potential during a match.
