Congratulations to our star of the week in Magpies, and those who have scored full marks on Tackling Tables and spelling tests this week.

This week, Magpies have continued with their sentence stacking in Literacy and have been exploring the use of semi-colons, conjunctions and alliteration as they build sentences to describe the way Malcolm's is being moved around by the wind and the paper aeroplanes.

In Maths, we have explored different rules of divisibility, prime numbers up to 100 and square and cube numbers. Children have got really stuck in with this unit and are showing great understanding.

We continued exploring what life was like in Britain on the home front during WWI. The class wrote diary entries from the perspective of a woman on the home front. These were amazing, and we had a wide range of jobs and lifestyles explored by the children.

All the children have finished their clay relief tiles this week, with the majority of Magpies having glazed their finished product.

In computing this week, children explored how to manage information online and completed an activity where they used different search engines to find answers to several questions.

Children finished their scientific fair tests on exercise and its effect on pulse rate. Groups completed different exercises and measured their heart rate with some even running laps in the hall for their experiment.

Finally, we continued having discussions in Spanish, children were asking each other if they have any pets and answering fully. We were very impressed with the pronunciation and understanding of all the children in the class.

Spelling tests will continue to be on a Monday with spellings for the following week sent out on the same day. Our PE day is Wednesday for swimming. Please encourage children to read as much as possible throughout the week.

Best wishes,

Miss Roche, Miss Garrod and Mrs Satkauskiene.
