Welcome to Magpies Class.
We have had a great start to the year in Magpies Class. The children are getting stuck in and preparing for their final year at Eastgate.
Everyone has settled in well, and it has been exciting to meet all the children and get to know them properly.
We have created a Class Culture Display to explore and celebrate the different backgrounds and interests of each child.
Throughout this term we will be learning about:
Literacy – The Paperman
This is a black and white short film following our protagonist Malcolm as he is waiting for his train.
Maths – Place Value
This week we have looked at reading and writing numbers up to 10,000,000.
Science – The Human Body
This week we have focused on the heart and how it circulates blood around the body.
Art – Renaissance Architecture and Sculpture
Magpies have started looking at different architecture from the Renaissance. This week the children drew the Florence Cathedral.
History – World War 1
To start this unit, we explored the different causes of World War 1.
Spanish – We have started looking at Spanish phonic sounds.
Computing – We will be looking at Online Safety, focusing on the importance of keeping safe online.
Spellings will be sent home every Monday. Children will then have a test on their spellings the following Monday. Tackling Tables tests will take place on Fridays.
Thank you for a brilliant start to the year. We look forward to working together as the new Magpies.
