Congratulations to out star of the week in Magpies, and those who have scored full marks on Tackling Tables and spelling tests this week.
This week, we have completed our sentence stacking lessons in Literacy and have watched all of the short film The Paperman. Magpies have started to plan their independent write where they will be writing about what happens next in our story. The children have started to write some successful sentences using personification.
In maths, we have moved on to multiplication of 2-digit numbers by 4-digit numbers. We have also started looking at division, focusing on short division and division using factors.
To end our topic on WWI in history, we explored the consequences of the war and the impact it had on different countries. Children wrote newspaper articles on the announcement of the end of WWI and the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.
We have also ended our science topic on the human body. Our final lesson explored the components of blood. The children learnt about white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets and plasma within their blood and they then drew their own diagrams of the blood.
We had our first RSE lesson this week and the Y6 children learnt about body image. We had some amazing conversations about the impact of media on body image.
In Spanish this week, we have moved on to saying what our pets are called, using the phrase que se llama. Children have enjoyed Spanish a lot this term and their pronunciation is muy bien!
Spelling tests will continue to be on a Monday with spellings for the following week sent out on the same day. This week is our last week of swimming, our PE day will change to Friday morning after half term. Please encourage children to read as much as possible throughout the week.
Best wishes,
Miss Roche, Miss Garrod and Mrs Satkauskiene.
