Week Beginning 22.09.25

Welcome back!

In maths so far, Penguins have been revisiting place value and building on their knowledge of partitioning with 4 digit numbers.  They have also started to flexibly partition which has been tricky to grasp, but using the Base 10 first has helped their understanding.

In Literacy, they have been working on a non-fiction text all about the digestive system. This has been really useful because they are also learning about this in science. They were fascinated to learn how long the small intestine actually was!

In science, Penguins were looking at the results of their investigation about the effects on enamel from different foods. They put eggs in different liquids and left them for a week. The results were shocking and it helped Penguins to understand the importance of brushing their teeth with toothpaste.

In outdoor learning this week, the children have been using what they have been learning to create a natural representation on the digestive system using string and whatever they could find in the environment. They drew around themselves first to create the outline they needed. It was a lot of fun and made the children think about the different organs.
