Huge congratulations to the children who received star of the week, the handwriting and presentation award and tackling tables certificates this week. Keep up the hard work!
Welcome back to Spring term 2. The children have had a brilliant first week back and have produced some fantastic work.
In Science, we have moved onto a new topic about forces. We discussed push, pull, gravity, air resistance, water resistance, friction and upthrust and will be experimenting with these forces over the coming weeks. This week we did an experiment using a Newton meter measuring the forces of pulling an object. The children wondered if they could use the Newton meters to check the force of gravity, and researched this.
In Literacy, we are learning about the poem, The Highwayman. The children have been role-playing the Lord and Lady in their stage coach, chattering and laughing. The Earl watches closely for dangers as they approach the point where the highwayman is waiting for them. We managed to create some great freeze frames for this lesson.
In music, we have started our new unit: The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. We will be exploring this genre of music. Lots of the children enjoyed the song, but it wasn't something they would choose to listen to at home.
Our new P.E day will be on a Monday and an indoor P.E. kit is required. Please ensure earrings have been removed. In line with these changes, our library day has also been changed to a Monday afternoon, so this is a great opportunity to change library books.
Please encourage your children to read at home at least 3 times a week and also practice their times tables.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs Bussey, Mrs Gosling and Mrs Fyson.
