In our writing lessons, we have been creating our draft version of our holiday brochure, persuading visitors to our hotel in the ancient Skara Brae. 
The class greatly impressed Mrs Blayney with their skills on the computer having learnt how to log on quickly and access the internet.

We earned 100% attendance award last week and will have a movie afternoon this week to celebrate. Well done! 

At the start of the week we had a look at a couple of test papers from last week and reflected on some of the things we did well and some new things to focus on. We have also finished our RE work on Hinduism and learnt about some of the important symbols. 

We have also learnt to play notes C, D and E on the glockenspiel and put them all together into a tune. It was quite tricky to learn, but we made great progress by the end. 

After half-term, we will be finishing off our art work on printing and I know many of the children were hoping to do that this week but time has flown.

We hope you have a lovely half-term and are safe if you are out for Halloween. We will see you on Monday 4th November.

This week has also been our assessment week. We have been very impressed with their perseverance!

We have been using the glockenspiels again this week and have been learning to play a song that uses the notes E and D. Have a look at the video below. 
The class have also been busy learning about place value in maths and beginning to collect language for our persuasive leaflet about Skara Brae. 
A very busy week for Doves class!

During this half term, we have lots of exciting learning happening. The children will be learning how to use glockenspiels, about Hinduism, spatial sense in geography, line in art and the human body in Science. 

The class will have PE on a Wednesday afternoon and they can come to school wearing their kit. 

We have sent reading books home this week and it is expected that they will be brought in each day as we listen to them read across the week. We would also like the children to read their books at home to an adult as this will greatly help to develop their reading.

On Tuesday, we celebrated Safer Internet Day by looking at the theme of 'Positive Influence'. The children looked at different scenarios and had some wonderful conversations about whether this is considered a positive influence, a negative influence or whether it depended on the situation. The discussions were fantastic to listen to.

Next week is assessment week so we are looking forward to seeing how much they have all learnt and celebrating their success with them!

Please remember to read regularly with your child as it makes such a difference to their progress. Also, use the Tackling Tables online learning as well as resources such as Percy Parker to help your child learn their multiplication tables. 

A big thank you to all those pupils who have brought in kitchen roll tubes and yoghurt pots for our DT project on torches. Please bring these in if you're able to for the pupils to make their torches with. 

Please can you make sure you read regularly with your child (every night if possible) as they are able to change their books each day from the library. Reading regularly for short periods of time (10 or 15 minutes) makes such a difference to your child's progress.

We have been learning about email this week and how we can use this to communicate with others around the world.

The children have finished their learning about systems in the human body and completed a final write about what they have learnt. They all worked really hard to remember what we had done in previous lessons.

We have been learning how to partition numbers by looking at the tens and ones. The children were then practising making numbers using the place value counters.

In Science this week, we have been learning about digestion. We used Weetabix to model how our mouth and saliva begin the process, the role of our stomachs and intestines and then how waste is removed! The children loved watching the process using a bowl, bag and pair of tights! Ask them about it and see what they can remember!

During outdoor learning, the class have been using salt dough to make stone age jewellery and then had a go at making natural paint from plants and leaves. This was not very successful, sadly!
