Penguins Newsletter
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope you have enjoyed your break. We are looking forward to starting the new term off with the children!
Literacy
In Literacy, the children will be learning about writing a fictional narrative. They will explore how to use similes, metaphors, and repetition to describe what is happening and create an atmosphere that the reader can picture. We have been practising planning, drafting, and improving our writing, with a particular focus on using full sentences and clear structure. After completion, we will be learning how to write a diary entry through the eye of a Roman child.
Maths – Multiplication and Division/Length and Perimeter
In Maths, our focus this term will be Multiplication and Division. The children will be learning about how multiplication and division is connected. We will be exploring how to use arrays and grouping to help us solve problems. The children will also look at length and perimeter and how to work them out using centimetres and metres.
Science – Ecology and Sound
In Science, the children will explore two exciting topics: Ecology and Sound. In Ecology we will learn about food chains and how all living things are linked to their habitats and how they survive. In our Sound unit, we will look at how sound is made, pitch and volume.
