Being a Governor

At Eastgate Academy we are looking for Parent Governors to join our Academy Council.

Parents are important people to have on a governing body because, alongside the staff, no one is more concerned with the quality of the teaching and learning provision of the school. Having your child’s best interests at heart means that you'll also have the school’s best interests at heart, which makes you committed to the school’s continuous improvement for the benefit of your child.

Part of the role of a governor is to be a 'critical friend,' supporting the school but also challenging it and holding it accountable.

At Eastgate Governors

  • meet 1 each half term, usually on a Wednesday night at 5.15 pm.  These meetings last no more than 2 hours.
  • working alongside staff to develop and monitor an area of the school development plan.
  • Attend training offered by the Eastern Multi – Academy Trust and Norfolk County Council on areas of interest.

If you are interested in joining us please ask for a pack from the office or come in and talk to us.
